The Round House

The Round House, also known as Shipdem House was built in 1791 by John Shipdem the Town Clerk.  It also housed the British Legion Club at one time.  Severely damaged in WW2 it was later demolish and the site lay under Townwall Street.

The building was apparently built this way so that the Devil couldn't catch the owner in a corner !
