Gateway Flats - Mosaic

c1960s

Gateway Flats in Marine Parade.  The flats were built as part of a multi-million pound project, in the 1950's following a well publicised competition.  The area was the site of the Grand and Burlington Hotels and numerous Georgian properties bombed in WW2.  The statue of Charles Rolls, the first person to fly a return journey across the Channel on 2nd June 1910 is visible to the right.
